The previous section dealt with French sex life, the following section is a fairly good synopsis of de Sade's major works and a bibliography on par with Dawes. Translated by James Bruce, psuedonym of Solomon Malkin. As an interesting side note, it seems that both the author and translator argue that the Dawes biography is a plagerised form of this work ($25.00) 1934 120 Days of Sodom Or the School for Libertinage (Bloch, Dr Iwan) New York: Falstaff Press 25x16.5x3cm, 384 pages total, 320 numbered pages (sans last 32 pages and 32 page Introduction/table of contents) No Jacket. Note: This is the limited edition printing of Dr. Bloch’s work, with a mass produced version in the more durable red hardboard edition (see below) following it. The content is the same with some pages switched around and the “Vital Function of Falstaff Publications” being replaced by the limited edition page in this edition. Other differences in this edition is that there is no figures on the hardbound cover, the pages are uncut, and, of course, the limited edition number. This book is very dissimilar from the Olympia/Grove Press edition of the 120 Days of Sodom, this book is primarily concerned with the historical sexual attitudes of the French just prior to and during the French Revolution, the 120 Days is just briefly summarized being without any specific details. Another peculiarity of this book is that the author has the tendency to compare 120 Days to Frafft-Ebing’s Psychopathia Sexualis, it almost seems that the author is gloating over his“fantastic” discovery.
